NBA 2K16: Popovich doesn't give a 'damn' about coaching award

Due to San Antonio Spur excellent play, the NBA announced on Monday that Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich won the Western Coach of the Month award for the month of December. The San Antonio Spurs had the league-best record in December, going 14-2 and were a perfect 10-0 at home in the month.

This was the sixteenth time Popovich has won Coach of the Month honors and he now has the distinction of being the only coach in NBA history to win the award that many times. True to form, Popovich remained surly about the recognition with reporters before the Spurs played the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. But Popovich did reveal that he would be more excited if the award actually involved a prize.

Hard to argue with Popovich on this. A free car for essentially being an employee of the month would be a very nice perk. The NBA 2K16 MT does have a partnership with Kia and players receive cars for winning the All-Star game MVP, so it is not unrealistic for coaches to get a car for winning Coach of the Month.

And to think if the NBA did hand out cars to Coach of the Month winners, Popovich would have sixteen cars. That may sound like a lot of cars but not for Popovich, who appreciates the finer things in life, and also apparently has the need for speed.
